Barkbox | a monthly subscription box for dogs | April 2014

Monthly subscription boxes are all the rage these days. They have them available for beauty products, beer, wine, all-natural food, kids products, and of course… Dogs! I recently subscribed (again) to BarkBox… BarkBox is monthly service that sends you a box of goodies for your pup. It can be toys, treats, hygiene products, or something completely new! I tried BarkBox in the past and reviewed it HERE …  I will be reviewing my box each month of my new six month subscription here on the blog so you can check it out for yourself! I love it because it introduces me, and the dogs, to new products that I may have otherwise not gotten a chance to try. And the dogs love it because they get a surprise in the mail each month! BarkBox is currently on Groupon for a limited time and if you purchase a six month subscription it comes to only $13.33 per month! I’ve included prices below of the items that we received, since many people ask if I think BarkBox is worth the price. Below are the descriptions of each item included, as written on the postcard that BarkBox includes:

  • JW Pet – For the inquisitive, food-motivated pup! The treat pod is perfect for stuffing with kibble or treats and allowing curious dogs to figure out how to extract them. Ideal for occupying pups on while you relax on the couch (or by the campfire!). ($7.14)
  • Bistro Bites – All-natural ingredients with a made-from-scratch recipe, crafted just for our smaller customers – what does Bistro Bites not do? Featuring buckwheat and chicken liver, these gluten-free and grain-free treats (that’s right, buckwheat isn’t a grain!) are great for pups with allergies. ($4.50)
  • Etta Says – Another single-source protein to be enjoyed after a day on the trail, Etta Says roasts their USA-sourced duck treats to perfection. They’re great for pups with protein or grain allergies, as well as picky eaters! ($9.02)
  • Mr. Barksmith’s – Cool off and rehydrate with Mr. Barksmith’s Carrot Cake smoothie! Inspired by garden-grown product, this smoothie is made with a blend of apple, bananas, and carrots – that’s it! Pop it in the freezer for an extra chilly treat, or serve as is for a trail treat. ($1.19)
  • Barkworthies – Made with 100% beef bladder, Barkworthies junior bully sticks are a BarkBox subscriber favorite. Pups find them both long-lasting and delicious! No chemicals or preservatives are used, making them a clear winner over other chews like rawhide. ($6.83)

I really enjoyed this box and as you can see from the prices listed above, I think it was worth the money. My Boston Terrier, Chloe, is a huge fan of the JW Pet toy. I put a few treats in it and it kept her occupied for quite awhile. She likes to chew on it even without treats in it as well! Our dogs love both the Bistro-Bites and Etta Says treats. And I love having a selection of all-natural and healthy treats to bring along for my pet photography sessions. We haven’t yet tried the Mr. Barksmith’s smoothie, I’m saving for a warm day, but we had one of these in the past and the pups enjoyed it on the deck on a sunny day. I’m familiar with Barkworthies bully sticks… it’s where we typically order bully sticks and they’re Lucy’s favorite! Thumbs up for all items from this month’s BarkBox.
