They actually met as toddlers. Though their moms worked together, Denise + Travis refused to play together. When their paths crossed again freshman year in high school, things had changed. They both grew to love being able to make the other laugh, through the good times and the bad. And in February 2009, they decided to expand their family, and add an immeasurable amount of laughter, with the addition of a Boston Terrier puppy named Stella. One April morning, Travis took Stella outside and then attached a small jewelry bag to her collar. Stella ran to the bedroom to show Denise what was suggested was in the bag, a puppy tooth that was lost the night before. Denise opened the bag to find a beautiful diamond ring and Travis asking her to marry him. Stella has become such a big part of their lives, and such a source of shared happiness, that it was only appropriate that she be included in the proposal. And, of course, in their engagement photos too! You know I never complain about couples that want to include their pets in their engagement or wedding photos!

I suppose this should be titled {meow!} instead of {woof!}. JD is a very sweet Siamese cat with a big personality. He typically loves the camera… In fact, when his owner Celeste first contacted me she sent a link to their collection of over 300 photos of JD hamming it up for the camera. Turns out that there is something about my camera that JD does NOT like. He spent our session trying to hide from the camera and I spent our session trying to make it a non-tragic experience for him. The yummy treats that I brought helped and we were able to lure JD out for long enough to get some great shots of him in the park…

  • Isabel - puuuurrrr-fect! hehehe..I just had to ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Judy G - What a beautiful cat! Great job as always,April!

  • Nicole - You must be the cat whisperer. You really got JD to shine. What a grogeous creature and the photos show how beautiful he is. Now if I could get my kitty to behave that well for photos

Many people avoid scheduling sessions in the wintertime. Things slow down a bit and I get antsy to shoot. So when I learned that Katie + Dan wanted to do their engagement session in January, I was stoked. If you can tolerate the cold, winter light is so, so perfect. Snow covered the ground just enough to keep it white and pretty, but not too much to cause us trouble walking around the city. We started the session in Reading Terminal Market and after fueling up on coffee and breakfast, we headed outdoors. We headed to Old City, one of my favorite places in the city to shoot. There’s a certain charm to the cobblestone streets, parks, and old buildings… And there’s lots of nooks and crannies to snuggle…

Robyn and Glen got are brave souls who planned a winter wedding at the Smithville Inn last weekend. They decided to do a ‘First look’ and see each other before the ceremony, which I LOVE. It always makes for the sweetest, most intimate moments and theirs did not disappoint. There were smiles, there were tears… And there were random wild birds?!? The birds were crazy, but despite their best efforts they couldn’t distract Glen from seeing his beautiful bride for the first time on their wedding day…

  • Robyn & Glen - Love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait to see the rest.

About two months ago, my best friend’s family welcomed this fluffy little guy. The boys named him Marty, in honor of the theatrical masterpiece “Back to the Future.”

Only a few days later, they welcomed this little guy. He decided to arrive three weeks early, so he’s a little less fluffy than Marty. But just as squishable and lovable. Happy 2 month birthday, Dietrich James…
