{Proposal}shoot: Jamie and Candy

I’ve wanted to photograph a proposal for a long time. I knew it would be so special to get to capture that moment… the moment when a couple decides to share their life together. Not very many people are lucky enough to have that moment to look back on. So when Jamie asked me to be there to photograph when he proposed to Candy, I was nothing less than thrilled.

He planned to propose at the Kelly family Christmas party. I was stoked to get to attend because any Kelly event is guaranteed to be a good time… They’re an awesomely fun group. This party did not disappoint. I have elected myself an honorary Kelly family member so that I can attend next year’s party as well. I hope they don’t mind. =) I will tell the story behind how the proposal happened, since I’m not sure you will pick it up from photos alone. When each family arrived, they were given a small, wooden, red box that contained a piece of paper. They were to write their wish for the new year. The boxes would then be mixed up and handed out at random so each family would read another family’s wish. What a great idea. The wishes ranged from sweet and serious to completely hilarious. Some wished for health and happiness, new jobs, and more babies! Someone wished for Nan & Pop to get a new pool. Ha. Jamie and Candy were strategically placed at the end of the circle with their little red box. When it came to be their turn, Jamie opened up the box and pulled out a piece of paper that read, “Candy, will you marry me?” He read it aloud as he got on one knee with the ring. Everyone was shocked! No one saw it coming… Jamie had kept it a secret to make sure that Candy didn’t catch wind of it beforehand. What a plan, right? There were tears and smiles all around the room. There’s no need for me to explain how much Jamie loves Candy, you can see it. The expression on his face in these images speaks for itself.

Happy wedding planning, you two! I wish you all the happiness in the world.
