I’d hear the sounds of four small wheels gliding along the asphalt long before I’d see him. Despite how tall and lanky he was, he seemed very natural on that skateboard. I was never bold enough to talk to him in high school, but I was struck by his calm presence and the way his smile shined from behind his unruly hair. Many, many years later I recognized that smile at a local bar. The wild hair had been cut but his quiet confidence remained. Fueled by the courage that only vodka cranberries can provide, I struck up a conversation. Five years later, I married that skateboarder.
To this day, the sound of skateboard wheels makes me schoolgirl giddy.
When I saw SkateDogStudios on Etsy, I immediately thougtht of Kev. A dog feeder made out of a skateboard?!? It’s like two of his loves combined. I had to share it… (and attempt to resurrect the ‘Stuff I love’ segment on my blog… 🙂
Jill - awesome!!!
Emily Beaty - How cool is that?!
Stacey - Totally got teary-eyed just in the one first paragraph! I love your adorable how-we-met story!
Jules - What a great story!! So cool 🙂
Rose - I cry as I remember that skateboarder, from his very first skateboard.
