Tri…

I looked across the lake and could barely see the tiny little people that lined the bank of the opposite shore. It looked SO far away. They entered the water in waves, and splashed their way towards where we waited. We saw her light blue bathing cap emerge from the water and yelled her name… she smiled in acknowledgement but didn’t pause as she ran from the water to her bike. From the .25 mile swim, to the 11 mile bike ride, to the 3 mile run… she continued with the same quiet determination. And we continued with the same obnoxious cheering and clapping.

As we stood in a crowd of people and they announced winners, I couldn’t have been more proud of my little sister for placing top overall in the women’s category. Not because she’s good at what she does, but because I know what she’s been through to get where she is. She hasn’t let adversity, or 5 ACL surgeries, keep her from doing what she loves. Makes a sister proud…
