When I was a little girl, I loved the Wizard of Oz. I would watch, with bright eyes and wonder, as Dorothy opened the door to Munchkinland. And I gasped. Every. Single. Time. I would pretend to be Dorothy, and instantly be transported to a land of childhood dreams. My Mom’s burgundy heels made a suitable substitute for ruby slippers, as I awkwardly tried to click the heels together of shoes that were four inches too long for my feet. How delightful it would be to go back to a time so full of magical possibilities.
When we headed out on our photo shoot and arrived at the greenhouse to find that Josie had secretly ditched her coordinating black shoes in favor of her ruby slippers, I had to laugh. She’s my kind of girl. This is my favorite image from the session because it epitomizes all that childhood is… a time in life when there’s nothing more magical than a pair of well-worn ruby slippers…
Grace - The scuffed shoes (or is that snow) and the toes turned inward just add so much to the shot. Lovely!
Emilee - Aw, I love it! I wish I had ruby slippers when I was a little girl. 🙂
Rachel - This is adorable! I love the loose tights and legs turned in a little. How cute!
leesia - this is so lovely!
Nicci - Yes, the loose tights, I can still remember how that felt on my younger legs!
