I have always loved german shepherds. My first dog was a shepherd + black lab mix so I think they’ll always have a special place in my heart. Chrystie booked a pet photo session for her mom for Mother’s Day so that I could photograph her german shepherd, Wiley. We got to document Wiley doing all of his favorite things… playing with his Kong, running in the field behind their home, and catching water. Just a few short weeks prior, we photographed their maternity session. One of the many reasons that I love maternity sessions is that I get to meet the older siblings prior to the newborn session. After the new baby arrives, they’re adjusting to so many changes so it’s always helpful for me to get to connect with them and get to know them a little before the new baby’s first photo session. As a Collegeville photographer, I often have newborn sessions involving older siblings. They’re often toddlers. And they’re often uncooperative… which is understandable! Who wants to take photos when there’s a new studio to explore? For this session, I photographed brand new baby Gabriel and his siblings who are 8 and 10 years old. And wow! They did amazing. Don’t get me wrong… I still love the challenge of toddler-wrangling. But it was interesting to compare how the sibling photos went down for this session versus a session with a newborn + toddler.
