This family is so fun! I laughed through so much of the session and while editing the silly faces the kids came up with. I last photographed this family when Tammy was pregnant with Ben, which seems like so long ago! Below are some favorites from their session. Be prepared for a long post, I have a lot of favorites…

Just a few short weeks after their maternity session at Longwood Gardens, this family of three became a family of four! They welcomed baby Ashton on June 17 and came into the studio when he was 9 days old for his very first photo session. Below are some favorites from Ashton’s newborn photo session…

  1. “This Is How It Always Is” by Laurie Frankel. This book is incredible. It’s about a 5 year old boy, the youngest of 5 brothers, who is transgender. It’s about how he struggles with figuring out who he is and how he fits in. And how each of his parents struggle differently with this issue. But mostly, it’s a book about parenting and the struggles in this book can be seen in so many different parenting situations. A quote that I loved from the book: “You never know. You only guess. This is how it always is. You have to make these huge decisions on behalf of your kid, this tiny human whose fate and future is entirely in your hands, who trusts you to know what’s good and right and then to be able to make that happen. You never have enough information. You don’t get to see the future. And if you screw up, if with your incomplete, contradictory information you make the wrong call, well, nothing less than your child’s entire future and happiness is at stake. It’s impossible. It’s heartbreaking. It’s maddening. But there’s no alternative.”
  2. “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt – Such an adorable and funny book… Charlotte and I both love it!
  3. Starwood Resistance Bands – These are a great way to change up a fitness routine. I use these for warming up and also love to have them for at-home work-outs for a way to add a little bit of difficulty.
  4. Halo Top Sea Salt Caramel ice cream – This is one of the only healthy ice cream alternatives that I’ve tried that I’ve actually liked. You can’t beat 280 calories for an entire pint. And the sea salt caramel flavor is a fave. You can find it at several local grocery stores… I usually pick some up at Wegman’s.
  5. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Amethyst – Essentially eye shadow in a stick form. I love it because it’s SO easy to apply, stays put, and is a gorgeous soft mauve color.
  6. Mossimo Center Seam T-shirt from Target – These are the perfect bum-covering t-shirts. I’m always searching for tees that I can wear with leggings since I usually shoot in leggings. I have this one in the olive color and love how it looks with both leggings and jeans.
  7. La Croix – I didn’t think that I’d like this because I’m not a fan of seltzer or sparkling water. But I do. It’s so refreshing for summertime and nice to have something with flavor instead of plain water. We get a mix pack at Costco. I always reach for a lime La Croix when we have taco night.
  8. Lululemon Align Pant – These leggings are an investment, for sure. I was skeptical that they’d be worth the hefty price but I love, love, love them. No regrets here. They’re incredibly soft and light and so dang comfortable. They’re perfect for working out, but also for outdoorsy things like hiking and biking. I have a black pair and it’s a staple.
  9. Brazilian Bum Bum Cream – Not only is this moisturizing, but it smells AH-mazing. It’s like the smell of vacation in a jar. I love it. It also leaves a pretty little shimmer to your skin.
  10. Mantrabands – The husband has gotten me several of these as presents for different holidays and they’re a sweet gift. I love the look of all the bangles and the different metals together. And you can choose one of many inspirational messages.
