I know I’ve mentioned before how much I love maternity sessions with dogs! They might be my favorite. Seeing a couple with their first baby as they’re about to welcome their first non-furry child is just so exciting. I was thrilled when Moira contacted me about doing their maternity session with their mini-goldendoodle, Ted. Ted is curious, energetic, and completely adorable. He’s such a little fluffball, it would be tempting to just snuggle him all day. I loved seeing how Moira + Kevin loved on Ted, and knowing that in only a few short weeks they’ll have a new little one to love on…

But this was my first session for a veterinarian. Dr. Natasha Kassell is a holistic house call veterinarian based in Philadelphia, PA. She focuses on holistic care provided in her clients’ homes, which you can read more about on her website. I found it so interesting to hear about the ways that she treats dogs and brilliant that she travels to a client’s home… Dogs are always much more comfortable in their own home than in a vet’s office so this is a huge benefit. Dr. Kassell contacted me needing new photos for her brand new website. I got to photograph her as she visited clients’ homes and treated several different dogs and cats. I’ve decided to share some business books that I’ve read and my thoughts on them in a monthly series. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to share personal books as well. I read more for myself so this is an effort to work more business-related books into my to-read list. I’d love to hear suggestions for both business and personal reading so if you have any books that you love, please comment below! I’ll start off with Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World.

Review: I’ve read one of Gary’s books in the past (Crush It!) and I really enjoyed it. He has a very charismatic writing and speaking style that some may find overbearing but I find motivational. The main point of this book is that you should not be using social media to constantly push your product/service alone. No one wants to be hit with constant “ads” for why they should buy what you’re selling. The key is to provide interesting and valuable content. Give, give, give, and then ask. The book is broken down into the different social media platforms and contains case studies on each. It’s interesting to see how something may work well on one platform, but not on another. It has definitely made me think about my own social media presence and things that I can change. Recommend? I do recommend it. As I mentioned, it really made me think about ways that I can incorporate more value into what I share and I hope to use that for some new ideas that I have coming up!
