Tricia and Evan’s sneak peek never made the blog… They were leaving for Mexico the day after our session so I posted a few of their images on Facebook that evening, so they wouldn’t have to wait until they return. I know that the waiting is the worst part. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tricia and Evan wanted to include their pup Kaili into their engagement photos, which I love, especially since she was such an integral part of the proposal. Kaili waits in the foyer for Tricia to return from work every day and this Friday was like the others. But this time Kaili was waiting with a big red bow and a small jewelry pouch around her neck. As Tricia reached out to greet her, Kaili ran up the stairs and Tricia followed her up the candle-lined staircase. At the top she found a room of candles and roses, and her Evan down on one knee…

Such a sweet story, I can’t help but smile. We had a fabulous afternoon together… I’m posting a few of my faves and you can see them all HERE!

I love when a couple is willing to get silly…

My favorite, FAVORITE shot… it has such a romantic feel…

  • Sarah - i love it, adorable!

  • Bev - Really beautiful session April. Great story too!

  • Emily Beaty - Beautiful work, April! Their engagement story is so sweet, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Chris - awesome shots! Congrats

  • ashley folkema - Just beautiful!

Isabella is a doll. Those chubby cheeks and big brown eyes… Her parents will be in trouble because I think it’d be impossible to say ‘no’ to that sweet face! We started our session right before dinnertime and girl did not want to part with her goldfish. I can’t say that I blame her… ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this image. LOVE. Family snuggled up on the couch, a single leaf stuck to Dad’s shoe as evidence of our walk in the park… It’s just real. And I love that.

  • Emily Beaty - WOW – LOVE these!!! I love your sharpness, April… you are always right on, and I love the story of that last one. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • ashley folkema - Oh my goodness…I love her expression in the first picture!

  • Zoe - So cute! I looove the first shot!

I’d hear the sounds of four small wheels gliding along the asphalt long before I’d see him.ย Despite howย tall and lanky he was, he seemed very natural on that skateboard. I was never bold enough to talk to him in high school, but I was struck by his calm presence and the way his smile shined from behind his unruly hair. Many, many years later I recognized that smile at a local bar. The wild hair had been cut but his quiet confidence remained. Fueled by the courage that only vodka cranberries can provide, I struck up a conversation. Five years later, I married that skateboarder.

To this day, the sound of skateboard wheels makes me schoolgirl giddy.

When I saw SkateDogStudios on Etsy, I immediately thougtht of Kev. A dog feeder made out of a skateboard?!? It’s like two of his loves combined. I had to share it… (and attempt to resurrect the ‘Stuff I love’ segment on my blog… ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jill - awesome!!!

  • Emily Beaty - How cool is that?!

  • Stacey - Totally got teary-eyed just in the one first paragraph! I love your adorable how-we-met story!

  • Jules - What a great story!! So cool ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Rose - I cry as I remember that skateboarder, from his very first skateboard.
    What a cool pet feeder.
