Before we got our mini-schnauzer, Lucy, I never realized that schnauzers were so high maintenance. Lucy needs to be cut every 8 weeks or she becomes a dirty, matted, knotty mess. We spend more on Lucy’s hair per year than my own. We’ve tried out several different groomers with varied results. And then we found Kelly from Kelly’s House Call Grooming. The best part about Kelly’s business? She comes to YOU. And with a dog that gets carsick each and every time that she’s in the car (Lucy!), this is a huge bonus. She has a trailer that is fully equipped to bathe, cut, and style your pup. It’s so wonderful not to have to go anywhere, and not to have to clean up dog vomit from my car seats. I thought I’d take a little before and after photo from Lucy’s last groom so you can see Kelly’s magic for yourself…

When Peter’s family contacted me, he was sick. But they wanted to capture him as they know him and as they love him, dearly. Peter has since passed. I can only hope that the images are a beautiful reminder of their sweet boy…

  • Sarah - What a handsome boy and beautiful photography. My heart goes out to his family. <3

  • Itty Bitty & Fluffy - What a gorgeous boy – you captured him beautifully. I am sure his family are very pleased to have these lovely memories of Peter. Sad to hear he has passed – I am sure the family will treasure those photos for ever.

From the very beginning of my business, shooting pets was my love. They’re what I started out shooting. They’re my passion. We have two furbabies of our own that we adore and that make us laugh on a daily basis. But 16 months ago, we welcomed our (non-furry) baby, Charlotte, and things changed. A lot changed. And I saw newborns in a whole new light. Every newborn session takes me back to those first few days with my own baby girl. And I want to capture every.tiny.little.thing for those new parents because I now know how fast they grow, how precious those first days are, and how one day they will look back on those photos in disbelief that their baby really was THAT little.

Recently, I traveled to Virginia to learn from one of the best newborn photographers that I know… Amber from Little Moon Photography. I’ve admired her work for years. I’m always intrigued to see how other photographers work, and Amber really is a pro at working with newborns. It was eye-opening and I can’t wait to try out some of the things that I learned. Below are some of my shots from the workshop… the posing was done by Amber, and the shooting + editing was done by myself.
