We started where they started, at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. And moved on to the first place they lived together, a tiny little bright orange and blue house on a quiet street, just steps from the busyness of Center City. A house that has since been painted a much less festive shade of taupe. So we headed to South Street, where vibrant color will likely never be replaced with neutral tones.

Sana + Zach are currently living in San Francisco and will be getting married there in a year. But they wanted to do their engagement photos where they first started, in Philadelphia. Sana + Zach… thank you for taking time during your visit for our session!!

  • Shauna (Fido & Wino) - Such great photos! That dress Sana is wearing is beautiful, by the way ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Amy - LOVE. Especially that first one – so so so cool!!!

Last weekend I headed to Delaware to meet up with Allison + Jason on the University of Delaware’s campus… beautiful campus, beautiful couple, beautiful puppy… I have no complaints! Here are a few peeks of their images…

  • Dominik - I love the tilt/shift effect on the first picture ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Nicole Glazier - I LOVE the 3rd pic!!! it’s perfect!!

Jen + Sam got married last weekend on the most beautiful September day. Jen + Sam chose to do a first look, which is when they see each other before the ceremony. I love, love, LOVE when couples do this, as it allows the day to run much more smoothly… they did all their photos beforehand and they were able to enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests instead of taking photos. It makes for such a sweet and romantic moment when we’re able to capture a couple seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day, outside of the pressure of the ceremony. I adore it. Jen + Sam had their closest friends there for support… and let’s face it, Jen’s Oscar de la Renta dress was far too FABULOUS to be drug across the grass. I love Sam’s face as he waits to see his bride for the first time…

During the ceremony, the way that she looks at him is so sweet…

Much thanks to Amanda for joining me and rocking it out!

  • Emily - Her dress is amazing, and these images are beautiful!!!

  • jen - April, I love love love your work! I’m telling everyone about you!!!! I loved working with you both the engagement session and wedding day. Thank you and cannot wait to see the rest!!!!!

I looked across the lake and could barely see the tiny little people that lined the bank of the opposite shore. It looked SO far away. They entered the water in waves, and splashed their way towards where we waited. We saw her light blue bathing cap emerge from the water and yelled her name… she smiled in acknowledgement but didn’t pause as she ran from the water to her bike. From the .25 mile swim, to the 11 mile bike ride, to the 3 mile run… she continued with the same quiet determination. And we continued with the same obnoxious cheering and clapping.

As we stood in a crowd of people and they announced winners, I couldn’t have been more proud of my little sister for placing top overall in the women’s category. Not because she’s good at what she does, but because I know what she’s been through to get where she is. She hasn’t let adversity, or 5 ACL surgeries, keep her from doing what she loves. Makes a sister proud…

  • AmandaD - Awww! Great shots…I love the last one. Congrats to your sister- that is great!

  • ashley folkema - How awesome! What great captures! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Emily - Congrats to your sis!! What an accomplishment! That’s such a sweet photo of the two of you together.

Sam never imagined that he’d get his engagement photos taken on a horse farm. But for her, he’d do anything. This lovely couple got hitched last weekend on a horse farm in Reading… and if you’re a fan on my Facebook page, you’ve already seen a teaser photo! More to come soon, but until then… check out some of their engagement photos. Also taken on a horse farm, but this one is in Maryland where Jen’s horse Troy lives and frolics in the fields and Jen visits him several times a week to ride. Troy joined us for some photos, as did Jen + Sam’s two Jack Russell terriers.
