Last year I posted about how much I love to shoot in the wintertime. And it seems that mother nature overheard this comment, and took it as a challenge. The day of my shoot with Terminator {aka Nate} and Molly was the coldest day ever. Bitter cold. But Sandy, Molly, and Nate were troopers… they toughed it out, and we retreated to the heat-blasting car every couple minutes to thaw out.

Nate and Molly are funny in that their personalties are polar opposites. Nate is mellow and shy, while Molly is feisty, energetic and bold. One would never guess their ages… Care to guess?

Ok, I’ll tell you. Terminator is 14 and Molly is 12!! Can you believe it? Me neither. Weinerdogs age well, I tell you…

LOVE!

  • Jill Beninato - Love this new blog/website…new to me at least??? The weiner dogs are adorable and I love your little icons at the bottom of each post…heart, bone, bowl….very clever!

  • Bev - Love these April. Especially the second shot! Great work.

  • Shauna (Fido & Wino) - Love that they named their weinerdog “Terminator” ๐Ÿ™‚

    Fab red door shot!

  • Kristie Stuckel (Bella's Bowtique) - So, so soooooo stinkin’ adorable! We have two wiener dogs, and this totally catches their great little personalities!

  • Rebecca - Fabulous shots!!!!! I absolutely love the last one of the kiss ๐Ÿ™‚

  • jill - you are amazing! you are the queen of tones and colors in photography.

  • Sara - Winter light is so magical – I love that you guys toughed it out because you rocked it April!

  • Emily - Love these!!! They don’t look 12 & 14 at all!

  • Jess Kamm - What cuties!!! I LOVE your new blog too, it looks awesome!

Sometimes my favorite images are not ones that are technically “perfect”. Sometimes they’re ones that make me smile, laugh, or just speak to me in some way. Although out of focus, I think this shot really captures Thor in his carefree, completely happy, puppy-running-through-the-fields state…

  • Emily - Oh wow, I absolutely LOVE it.

  • Kayleen T. - Hey April, just got the email for the Lyon Shop in Vegas and sadly won’t make it to the dinner the night before so I just wanted to reach out to everyone and say HI and introduce myself! ๐Ÿ™‚ It will be my first year to WPPI! Anyways I love that you do pet photography, I especially love this photo! Your blog design and logo are so cute too! Hopefully we can talk more at the Lyonshop! YAY! -Kayleen

  • Laura - I completely agree, sometimes the ones that aren’t perfect just are. I have many of my children like that! ๐Ÿ™‚

As an adult, your attitude about snow usually changes. Shoveling, salting, and white-knuckled two hour long commutes just isn’t as much fun as snow days, building snowmen, and snowball fights. Unless… you luck out like we did and the snow falls on a weekend, affording you a lovely day of staying in your PJs, watching movies, and sitting by the fire as the snow falls outside. We got hit with almost two feet! And this usual snow-hater didn’t mind one bit.

I took my camera out for all of two minutes before Chloe had a snowball-related incident that forced us back inside. She is NOT a cold weather dog. Lucy, however, will stand out there forever… gathering snow on her cute little beard…

  • Wendy - Along with loving your new blog look, I don’t think I mentioned how much I love your new watermark. Very cool idea. I love the way it is substantial enough to prevent people from stealing/using your images but thin enough to not detract from the gorgeous images.

  • Christy - Lucy is so precious!

  • kim - Oh my heavens your dog is so freakin’ cute! I LOVE your new branding as well. Totally fits!

  • Rose - Great picture of Lucy. I am so in love with my granddog!

  • Emily - I can’t believe you got that much!! That’s awesome it fell on a weekend, too. Lucy looks so cute in that first image.

Want something different than the traditional old guestbook for your wedding? Something that won’t end up packed away in the attic, never to be looked at again? This wedding guestbook is perfect. You can incorporate your engagement photos into it and the layout allows space for guests to sign. The pages lay flat to allow for easy signing and the colors can be changed to any color of your choice… match them to your wedding colors or to a color that compliments your engagement photos. The best part? They won’t just be signing their names and the standard “Congratulations!” because this guestbook is filled with questions that lead them to write just a little bit more and make it a little more personal. The questions are totally customizable and can be anything from, “What is the secret to a happy marriage?” to “Which one of us will own the remote control?” You’ll have a blast reading what your guests come up with! If you’d like to include this type of album in your package, just contact me for details.

  • Angela - I can’t wait to see the album! It looks so rad! We will have to meet up soon!

  • Vida - AH! Love everything about your new brand ๐Ÿ˜€ and those albums are so so cute! I wanna see one in person ๐Ÿ™‚

Last weekend, I got to photograph the super cute, almost-1-year-old Jonah. His baby giggles are contagious and he is full of them. Though it was pretty chilly last weekend, we were lucky that it was a sunny day and we were able to head out to the park for a few quick photos. The bench that Jonah is sitting on is where his parents had their first date… how cool is that? I love being able to incorporate meaningful places into sessions.

Below you’ll see a new way to display my blog images… a pop-up gallery. Just click on the photo below and it will open in a new window, allowing you to go through all three images in one box. I have to say, I adore the second image. Jonah is not quite standing, and I just love his expression and the way his feet turn up! Adorable.
