As a reader of quite a few photography blogs, there are some that I admittedly go to just for the pretty pictures. And then there are some that are more. That let you see more than just bouquets and wedding rings and bridal parties. They let you see them. Who they are, what they love, how they feel. You leave feeling more like a friend than just a blog reader. That’s Justin&Mary.

Last night I attended their Spread the Love tour in New York City. They talked about business. They talked about life. And how to find a happy little balance between the two (which is so desperately difficult for a small business owner!). And I left feeling happy, motivated, and so very inspired.

Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that today is the first day of a whole new year, a whole new decade. 2009 just flew by… I started my photography business in February and my year was filled with so many amazing clients, adorable dogs, smiles, laughter, and a lot of fun. Thank you all for your unbelievable support… for inviting me into your lives and trusting me to capture your memories. I feel very lucky. Blessed. And if 2010 is even half as successful, I will be happy.

Reminiscing about the past year, I thought it’d be fun to have a little contest. I chose my favorite image from each of my pet sessions this year (that is, 46 dog sessions + 1 cat session!). That is only half true… for most of the sessions I couldn’t choose my very favorite, so I made Kev choose for me. It was tough! So I want you to choose your most FAVORITE of my favorites. Yes, you can choose your own image. And send your friends and family to choose your own. All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite…

Contest will go until January 10 at midnight and the owner of the favorite image will be awarded an 8×12 print of the selected image!

    My favorite is the one that I got a major connection with immediately. Now this was a hard choice because all these images are so aesthetically and technically wonderful.

I love day-after sessions… After the often chaotic nature of the wedding day, it is the perfect chance to get some relaxed, FUN, newly-married photos. Those first couple days of being able to call him your husband are so exciting, who wouldn’t want to remember that? To be able to look back on it. To cherish those memories.

Chris + Rachel came to the hotel where Kev and I were staying in Jamaica, The Rockhouse, for their day-after session to get a little change of scenery from the beach where they married. The thing that I love most about these photos is that Chris + Rachel were blessed with a honeymoon baby so in these photos they’re expecting… but of course don’t yet know it! How very special, right?
